Experience Matters

Michael Kearney has been in the hotel business for over twenty years. Now overseeing the beautiful historic Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania. His career in the hospitality industry started in 1986 with 13 years at The Inn at Nichols Village, an AAA Four Diamond hotel where he progressed from desk clerk to Assistant General Manager. The hotel consisted of 155 beautifully appointed guest rooms and residential suites, an AAA Four Diamond restaurant and extensive banquet facilities. He looks back very fondly on his memories and still refers to them as “family”.

In 1999 he took on the challenge as General Manager at Fernwood Hotel and Resort in the Poconos. The resort had just merged two timeshare communities with a thriving hotel to one large 829 unit timeshare hotel and resort with golf, snowtubing, four restaurants and extensive amenities. He spent seven very successful years making Fernwood Resort an elite facility in the Poconos. “I can't imagine a better learning and growing experience in the business”, he boasts. “Every day I learned so much from everyone around me”.

Today he operates the beautiful and historic property at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, having seen it through extensive renovations . He has also opened Scranton's first dedicated wine bar. “It has been a thrill to take such a wonderful and successful property and make it even better, enhancing its place in Scranton's history”. He also is currently operating Nexus’ most recent venture- The Wyndham Indianapolis West in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He has recently led a very talented team to successful conversion from the Adam’s Mark Hotel to a full service Wyndham

in approximately 3 months. “With 407 beautiful rooms and suites as well as 39,000 square feet of meeting space, The Wyndham is a Bonafide Event & Conference Center in the heart of the Midwest”.

Together with Jitu Patel, Ketan Vakil, Rita Patel and Hiten Shah they have formed Nexus Hospitality Management and look very forward to expanding their portfolio.
